Computer Networking Assignment Help
In 1950 the electronic computer came into existence. When they were first developed they were huge centralized system. They were used by trained professionals and to the common man they were quite unknown.
The times of mini as well as personal computers began since the development of VLSI technology and microprocessors in the year 1970. These are known to be low cost inventions that can be afforded by the organizations for various departments and operations. With the help of VLSI technology, the communication systems saw an increased development and progress as more development was seen in the telephone networks.
Organizations having large number of computers worldwide wanted a means of communication between them for sharing of different data, software and other information. This led to the development of Networking Systems with the integration of communication systems and computing devices.
The classification of Networking can be based on two main categories. These include the Transmission Technologies and Scale. Further categorizations of transmission technologies include Point-to-Point networks and Broadcast Networks. A single communication channel is more defined in the case of broadcast network, which is between the machines. But in the case of point-to-point, multiple lines of communication are known to exist between the source destination pair.
Based on Scale the Networks are classified as Local Area Network (LAN) which are used to share data within a span of few kilometers, Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) whose networks over entire city and may be a single wire connection or a collection of LAN connections, Wide Area Connections (WAN) providing long distance transmission of data and lastly Internet which is a collection of networks or networks of networks providing quicker transmission f data.
The Networking Systems are used in the various fields that include businesses, industries, entertainment as well as by the common man. Mainly the Networking Systems are used in Teleconferencing, Marketing and Sales and Manufacturing.
