Managing work place diversity is gaining popularity around the world specially in multi national organizations where they have employees working for them from different backgrounds and age group. In order to be able to achieve work place diversity different organizations have implemented on various strategies, some got successful and some went in vein. It is because of this reason that students are getting familiarize of working in a diverse team in colleges and universities. With the help of such practice I believe that it helps students in equipping themselves with the required tools and skills that they might need in the future once they start with their professional careers.
For the advancement of groups, diversity can be considered as one of the main characteristics that mainly comprise of two or more people, and it usually refers to the demographic difference of one or more among group members.
Well I believe that working in Teams is a great experience from which an individual can learn a lot, based on his willingness to learn. In this globalized environment where companies are trying to go global, working in teams with people from different backgrounds has now become a necessity. Many employees find it difficult at times to deal with people from other cultures and backgrounds but at the same time if such aspect is utilized properly it is very likely that by working in teams and acting as an effective team player one can definitely learn a lot from others. Specially from those who are from different cultures, as their way of working would be different as compare to the ones from the same culture.
At the same time with the rapid advancement in technology a lot of employees are now prefer to work from home and so that they can manage their own time with their own set pace. But not all people are that tech savvy and don’t have the same kind of job. According got Juliet, who mentioned that now organizations are trying to get everything out of their employees, which is not ethical, the whole paradigm of workplace diversity has shifted to new extend making employees working in a team. For me I believe that working in a team environment at this level specially where other members in your team are from different cultures and backgrounds is really a good positive thing for me, and I must capitalize it to its fullest. One major reason for taking it as a positive thing is that it really sharpen your skills of dealing with peoples from different nationalities, how they work and what strategies, methods can be used in order to work with them more effectively.
At the same time working in a team with people from similar background would be good but not as beneficial as compare to working in a team with people from different backgrounds. This whole experience will definitely benefit in the long run and in my professional career as well, mainly because of the reason that now due to immense competition and global environment it is very necessary for a person to be able to work in multicultural environment and if you cannot then I believe there are various barriers that you have to face.
